Made it Monday

On one of my Periscope adventures I watched Lindsay Paull from Miss Johnston's Journey talk about her blank space in her room and how she turned that space into a vinyl chalkboard bulletin board. Super cute idea...just wouldn't work in my classroom. I'm in a portable with AC (PTL) and the walls only hold staples. After browsing pins and seeing this pin from Lessons with Laughter I had some 'pinsperation' and I knew I could make this for my door!

Here is my version for the first few weeks of school. Let me tell you, it's not as easy as it looks. The vinyl is awkward to hang and it gets air bubbles for days. My coworker commented on how nice she thought it looked and I told her it is a Monet.

Tai: What's a monet?
Cher: It's like a painting, see? From far away, it's OK, but up close, it's a big old mess.

Clueless anyone?!

Each roll of vinyl cost about $5 (with a Hobby Lobby 40% off). All in all the door only cost me about $10 (hubby-to-be used his coupon too!)

I hope you like it!

All of the raffles are divided into categories. Enter one or enter them all! There is truly something for everyone.

My product is in the upper elementary bundle! I am giving away my newest product, my September Wacky Writing packet. September 5th (also my birthday!) is Cheese Pizza Day... Who knew? Get your students writing with these non fiction prompts.
Good luck!

A blog post for... Me!

Every year at back to school time I wander through the aisles and ask myself the same question "Is that a good price?" I never can remember what I paid for single subject notebooks and the paper report folders the previous year. I usually buy three spirals and a paper folder for each student. I'm a mean teacher... No you can't bring your own folder! Then they wont all match! I feel like this ecard. Must be the type A teacher in me.

Anyone with me?

So today while at Walmart I decided I needed to write this info down. Where better than the blog?! I know it wont get lost (like paper) or deleted (like a note on my phone).

Here is my breakdown of what I thought were the best deals for Southern California:

Staples:
Single subject notebooks - 25 cents
Paper folders - 15 cents
Labels - $13 but 30% coupon in the aisle

Walmart:
Single subject notebooks - 17 cents
No paper folders :(    (they had them last year)
The good mechanical teacher pencils (you know what I'm talking about) - $1.97
Single Elmers glue stick - 97 cents
Scissors - $1.47
12 pack of neon student pencils - 97 cents

I still had to go to two stores, but now (hopefully) I'll remember that I wrote this HERE!

In August in burns even more! Am I right?!

Random Act of Kindness

A random act of kindness that happened to be was similar to Miss Monica's over at iheartgrade3. I was in the Starbucks drive through towards the end of the school year. That particular day I had a half day planning day with my team. It was my turn to buy the coffee, so I had three coffee orders and two breakfast orders. I think my total was an arm and a leg about $20. I approached the drive thru with my gold Starbucks card (and was prepared to add more $ to it) when the barista told me that the person in front of me had paid for my order. I was flabbergasted. I had heard of it happening before, but I had never had it personally done for me. Whether that person paid for mine because it was a chain of events set forth before them or they started it, it was such a thoughtful gesture. I continued the chain of events and paid for the person behind me. Hopefully they did as well. This goes to show you that just buying someone a cup of joe could make their day. How will you be kind today?

Five for Friday...errr Saturday {July 17th}

I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching to bring you my Five for Friday...now past midnight, so Five for Saturday! I have now learned the importance of drafting this post in the beginning of the week.

On Thursday my fiance and I booked our wedding venue. Save the date {July 2, 2016} The venue we I wanted (lets be real, he doesn't really care about too much about the details) is highly sought after due to the price and do it yourself mentality. You out source EVERYTHING, which is awesome because it is so personalized and kind of a nightmare because you have to hire everyone. Overall, it will work for our theme (country chic) and our budget.

I joined the bandwagon. Ashley Schroeder posted on her instagram about how she organizes her clip art and fonts. I was curious about how you big names do this. Of course to learn how she does it you have to join Periscope...so I caved. You can find me @theyoungandeducated. Butttt. I'm not doing anything except cyber stalking and giving hearts (if you've watched a scope - I think thats what they call it- you know what I mean, jellybean). You can watch Ashley... She's doin' something. Also, turn off the chat, it's annoying.

(now I am - kind of)

I participated in my first flash Friday freebie...It was a flop. Haha. Too early in the game, not enough followers, I don't know. I was reading an instagram post (#addicted) and Techie Teacher Turtle said that in a scope she watched they talked about the importance of supporting each other. Therefore the hashtag #littlefishteacherblogger was born. I'm just a small fish blogger. However, not giving up on this social media aspect of this.

Check it out in my store

I ordered my Erin Condren planner this week. I am super excited for 3 reasons
1) It is so pretty (I love teal)
2) They have cool date stickers to put inside
3) This is my last year as Ms. Wilson... Next year Mrs. Cahill!

On Sunday the soon to be Mr. and I leave for Cancun for a week. Almost all of July we have been on the go. I can't complain because we have been having such a great time. I just wish my washer hadn't quit on me right as I need to pack! It's like it knew! Grrr. Thankfully my dad is Mr. Fix it and is 90% finished with it.

Weekly Summer Link Up - The Best Trip of My Life

I am linking up with Miss Monica at I Heart Grade 3 to share with YOU... the best trip of my life!

I have been on several amazing vacations. I have been to Europe, Cancun, and Hawaii to name a few. However, nothing compares to my trip the Bahamas. My boyfriend has to choose his vacation dates a year in advance. He had selected a the last week in June off and it was great because I was out of school. We didn't have anything planned for that week, we just knew it was summer. As it was getting closer we started discussing what we wanted to do. We talked about going to New York to visit his family or San Francisco to sightsee. One night he called me and told me about this cruise he found that was reasonably priced. He was sold and so was I.

We live in California, so we flew to Miami to board the ship.

The first night we had dinner and played a little BINGO. We know how to live it up, don't be jealous!

The next day we went to beautiful CocoCay. We went snorkeling had drinks on the white sandy beach and relaxed to the max. I still don't have any pictures from there since we bought a disposable waterproof camera. Who develops film these days...

Anywho...that night at dinner he told me he wanted to go to the rooftop bar on the top of the ship and have drinks and watch the waves. I agreed because who doesn't love a good cocktail while enjoying the sights.

Once we got to the bar my boyfriend said ,"Wow, this is perfect." Little did I know WHY it was perfect. We waited around for the waiter to come by and he never did. He said he was going to go look for him. When he came back he said that he couldn't find the waiter, but he was holding a ring box. He opened it and I'm pretty sure my mouth was open.

He said many romantic things (that I barely remember since I was in shock) and asked me to be his wife .

BEST.DAY.EVER

Needless to say, this is why this very recent trip was the best trip of my life!

Here are a few other pictures of Nassau. We tried a fresh coconut drink (disgusting!), conch (calamari like) and native beer.

Dare to DREAM! Teachers Pay Teachers Sellers Challenge --- Week 2

So much truth in this quote!

This weeks Teachers Pay Teachers challenge is to dream big! Here are my dreams.

FUTURE: I want to save, save, save for the future. My boyfriend and I aren't engaged... yet. BUT I'd like to be able to save for when that day comes so we won't be in thousands of dollars in debt! You know the saying, first comes marriage... then comes the baby carriage!

TRAVEL: Possible honeymoon location? I'd die to go to Tahiti and stay on one of those huts on the beach... the ones you only see on TV. Looks like a great place to relax and enjoy.

HOME IMPROVEMENTS: Starting with the kitchen floors. The tile is dated, its cracked in several places and is missing grout. Not to mention it is white!! After I mop I need to mop again. It's a vicious cycle!

What are YOUR dreams?

Teachers Pay Teachers Sellers Challenge - Week 1

It's been a while since I have posted on here. Working full time and working on my masters has put a slight cramp in my free time. The Teachers Pay Teachers Conference has inspired me to start working on my store again. When I saw the Teachers Pay Teachers Seller Challenge I knew it was something that would inspire to start working in my store again. The week one challenge was to makeover an existing product. I chose my color the sight words worksheets. Before it was just plain boring! There wasn't a cover sheet. Everything was generic from the Publisher program. Now I revamped it with cute font and added a cover, credits page, and my blog website link. This has definitely been a learning curve for me. I am usually so tech savvy. I need to start creating my products in Powerpoint so it will easily transition from PC to Mac.
I hope y'all enjoy my revamped item!
